Kim and I were thinking of doing a Hobby Fair early this summer. With the announcement of the closing of the game we thought about letting the plot go. However, what a better way to end the game than with a community wide plot that gives us all a chance to come back for one last goodbye.
The premise will be that your character will share their hobbies in an open forum that allows for all kinds of interaction. More details to come as they are flushed out.
The fair will go up on June 5 and June 6 giving 11 days to play out all goodbyes before we go our separate ways.
Sadly, I will not be seeing Fiery Inception through to the end. I don’t have the heart to continue on the two plot arcs Molly is currently on with the knowledge that neither one will be fully played out, especially because they are both plots I’ve wanted to play out for quite some time now and most of the groundwork has been laid. It’s also for the best, as it’s the end of the semester for me, plus I’m taking spring courses so I won’t have the time in either May or June to do her justice as the game winds down. As for the post that went up for Arthur and Molly on Friday, it won't be completed as Mike and I have decided that it's no longer relevant, as it was going to be yet another groundwork thread for one of the plots.
Thank you for the wonderful experience of the past year, as I truly have enjoyed playing here, and even had something completely unexpected come out of it.
OK, anyone who wanted to have their character affected by the anti-magic "virus", feel free. The catalyst is in fruits and vegetables, but you won't know that. It will last anywhere from 3-5 weeks depending on what you want to do.
Yes, some of the fruit at the Bonding was tainted, but not all. ;-)
The Daily Prophet Place holder has been filled and can be found here. This is the start of the anti-magic "illness", so watch here and listen for Kimberly and Laura to keep you posted on where/how your character might be 'exposed' to the catalyst.
OK, perhaps this should go in plotting, but I'm not sure I have the heart to put it there.
Augustus: really has nothing going on. Laura, if you want to do what we discussed last night, we can or we can just do it in our heads. I would love to, but not sure if we can feasibly get that to work in two months. Probably can, just would mean a re-direction of priority for both of them. And honestly, I'm not sure I have the heart to do the plot justice. I want to say I do, but I just don't know that I can. If you're good with that, I am too. Jenna, if you need him for Daphne stuff, by all means. So, Augustus is mostly going back-burner and fading into the sunset as a dignified gentleman.
Draco: is in the middle of yet another crisis, but I think a lot of what happens to him will be in journalling. I have a plot I've wanted to explore since joining FI that seems I finally have the chance to try out, so I'm going to see if that works. Of course, Eve, that would mean moving them a bit faster than we'd planned. Otherwise, I'm going to let things fade.
I don't do well with lingering, so I'm going to attempt to wrap up most things or let them fade as needed.
Had something else I was going to say, but I can't remember it now. Likely will later. *hugs all*
Yesterday Meg informed us that she is giving up her characters. This did not have any weight or bearing on our decision other than to affirm that 'real life' is getting crazy and stressful for many of us, but we did want to let you know that she would not be around for the wind-down.
Since I have not had an opportunity to get Blaise involved in any plots and I would hate to fall in love with him the way I have Hannah only to have to leave him hanging. I am going to go ahead and drop bs_zabini.
Also, Hannah's letter to the Twins was supposed to be a belated birthday, haha I got you. However, with recent events, it seems as if I will actually let her leave the shop so she can focus on the growing viewer business.
We never, ever thought this day would come, but it has. As of today, we are closing our game to new applications, with the intention of winding down and closing the game, entirely, by June 15th. We want to give you, our existing players, the chance to try and tie up your existing plots and also perhaps find new homes for your characters in any of the other games 'out there'.
This has been an incredible experience and we have enjoyed getting to know each of you as creative writers and as friends. Unfortunately, it is simply no longer possible for us to continue to carry the administrative burden of this game. Additionally, we have poured so much of our hearts and souls and lives into this game, that to give it over to someone else to run would be like cutting out our own hearts.
The game will be locked on June 16, but will stand for you to reference at any time.
In keeping the game open until that time to allow you to play out your existing threads, we are extending the hand of trust that you will not do anything to sabotage the game world. Deliberate OoC behaviour or sabotage will result in immediate removal from posting-access to the game. We are trying to do this as painlessly as possible and will be here to assist in the transition in anyway we can.
It is especially painful to do this now, just as our own characters are reaching a plot-pinnacle on a personal level, but the stress simply cannot be borne any longer. Severus and Remus will be "written out" of Fiery Inception as they leave their Bonding celebrations. Whatever is done to finish out existing game plots, Severus and Remus will not be 'returning' to this game world. It can be assumed they have come back to finish their teaching obligations in the background, but they will not be involved in any future plots.
We know and understand that some - perhaps many! - of you will be hurt and angry over this decision, and for that we are deeply sorry. Sorry, too, for those folks who are very new and simply haven't had time to get to enjoy the incredible richness and depth that has been Fiery Inception.
I am certain that at least from my standpoint, I will never again be part of a rpg that has been so completely rich and vibrant and real in my heart and mind.
We would like to see Fiery Inception decline in a graceful swan-song of completed plots and 'happily ever afters' (or unhappily ever-afters as the case may be!) and wish each and every one of you all the best that the world and life has to offer. May your creativity continue to grow and flourish wherever you go.
With deepest affection and sincerity, Lisa, JL and Adrianne
